Last weekend we snuck in an end of summer trip up to Montana to hang out at the family cabin. It was the first time all of Dustin's family had been together in over 3 years! Add Jack and James to the mix, and it's safe to say it was the first time we'd ever all been together. We spent a few days riding ATVs, checking out ghost towns, hanging out with cousins, shooting at cans, making tree forts, playing in a tree house, hiking, swimming at the hot water springs, and having a family talent show. An unexpected highlight was that a MOOSE camped out right outside the cabin at night, and we had several spottings (and selfie opportunities) with him in the background. Thank goodness he stayed calm and didn't seem too bothered by all the noise we brought to his home.
It was over before we knew it, and the kids were super sad to be leaving both family and summertime behind on the trip. We eased the blow of leaving with lunch at a Missoula spot and some ice cream from Big Dipper. The kids were happy travelers, but Jack may have been the most happy knowing that next time he'd be getting his own seat on the plane.
