On Thursday morning, we took a trip out to the Hong Kong Temple. The service was in Cantonese so Ellen and I were on headphones for the translation. It was great to be able to visit the temple out here. After the temple, we took a tour of the shopping areas in Kowloon. We were amazed that an area so small can support so many expensive designer stores. Every corner we turned was another Gucci, another Ferragamo, another Hermes. We quickly lost interest in the plethora of unaffordable and uninteresting European designer superstores. We did however find some quirky Hong Kong stores that kept us entertained.
After our little shopping tour, we got on a boat and headed out to Cheung Chau for the evening. We reserved a room at a little hotel on the beach. My original thoughts were that we would using Cheung Chau as a jumping point to head to Lantau to see the giant Buddha nad do some hiking; however, when Ellen heard there was a Disneyland in HK, plans were altered to include the satellite branch of "the happiest place on Earth." Conveniently, HK Disney is not far from where I had originally thought we would go.

Day IV- Disney and Crab
It was raining in the morning, which turned out to be a good thing as there were no lines. HK Disneyland is much smaller than the one in Anaheim, so by the early afternoon, we had already had our fill. We returned to Hong Kong Island for dinner with an eclectic group at my new favorite restaurant "Under Bridge Spicy Crab." Dinner for 10 was comprised of Andrew and Nicola Dougherty (friends from church), Andrew's friend from college who was passing through, Alex (interning with Andrew, who I had met when he visited church) and his younger brother, Dave Knutsen (family friend from Fremont) and his girlfriend, and Ellen and myself. Though an odd grouping, everyone got along together great, bonding over the feast that lay before us. While we ate, we watched the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. They were truly impressive.
Outer Islands, Hong Kong Disney, Spicy crab and dinner with an elclectic group of Expats, yup Ellen was getting the true Hong Kong experience.
