Ellen arrived on August 5th, her 22nd birthday. After leaving on the 4th, a 12 hour time change and 15 hour flight later, her birthday was almost over before it began. Upon arrival, we got dressed then boarded the Star Ferry en route to Tsim Sha Tsui. We arrived in Kowloon and headed to One Peking Road. Up the elevator and to the 28th floor. The restaurant featured an incredible view of the harbor. Unfortunately, the 15 hours of air time was not kind to Ellen's stomache. She didn't eat much, but the food she did have was excellent.
After the restaurant, we went down to the street market in Mong Kok. As we arrived, the were battening down the proverbial hatches. We were warned that we should head home as the typhoon warning had been raised to an 8. We were also warned that we should make purchases as the market would not be open the following day. Ellen dutifully obliged on both accounts. We returned home for birthday cake. As is evident from the pics, Ellen was a fan.

Typhoon:
Wednesday was totally lame. I had a lot of things planned out but people here literally don't go outside when there is a typhoon warning. On any other day I would have been excited, seeing as work was canceled due to the warning. It turns out the typhoon passed far enough south of Hong Kong to have little effect on the Island. Ellen was disappointed in the incredible overreaction to the non-existent storm. One of the few things we were able to find open was the movie theatre, so we watched Batman. It was awesome.
