Annual Ohio Visit

We just got back from a  fabulous, relaxing two-week vacation to Ohio to visit Grammy, Pa, and Aunt Emma.  The flight out was LONG, but the kids have proven that they are veteran travelers and not one tear was shed (until we were walking out of the airport to our car, and even then it was after midnight, so I think that doesn't count!).

During our visit this year, we checked many things off of our "Summer Fun List", including multiple visits to Skyline Chili, a trip to Coney Island, "brown cows" at UDF, playing in the rain, catching fireflies, fishing, and tractor rides.  Aside from that, we spent time watching Aunt Emma in action coaching volleyball and seeing her new classroom at the elementary school, visiting Grammy at work and meeting some of her friends, trips to the pool, and we even made time to whiz through Clermont County's Summer Reading program (what can I say, the kids love to read)!  It's nice for the kids to have room to roam around a huge backyard, and do the same things that I did growing up (watching Pa work in the garden and going on frog hunts).  Much nature was looked at and lots of sweat dripped off the kids.

Almost the entire second week was rainy, but we still had lots of fun and did some exploring around Cincinnati, including a shopping trip for the kids.  It's always sad to leave family behind, but I was really grateful for the long visit so that my parents and Emma can get to know the kids and their growing personalities better.
