This year our Christmas season seemed pretty crazy. I can't pin down one single thing that threw it into a "crazy" level, but we did seem to have a ton of activities going on this December. We tried something new as a family and we did "25 Days of Service", where each day we did a different act of kindness/service for someone we knew or anonymously. It was a lot of work but I think the kids got into the spirit of Christmas by focusing a lot of the month on how we can give to others rather than just focusing on presents. We were invited to two different Christmas-themed Family Home Evenings at our friends' homes. It was so great to spend time with others and talk about the more spiritual meaning of Christmas and, of course, focus on being together as a family. Grammy, Pa, and Aunt Emma came to California for Christmas this year, spending half the week in Fresno and the other half up in the East Bay with us. On Christmas Eve we drove down to Fresno for the day to get in more family time, decorate cookies, and take some family pictures. Christmas Day was a blur of wrapping paper and bows, and the kids were super happy with their haul. Of particular note: we are going to Disneyland! We told the kids Christmas evening, and we are going in less than two weeks. We are crazy with excitement! Lyla was not feeling great on Christmas, and when she went to the doctor the next day we found out she had yet another ear infection. Boo! She pulled it together for the remainder of the visit with the family. We snuck in a bit of movie-going, smoothie-drinking, shoe-shopping, and Chinese food-eating. It was over way too soon and not enough pictures were taken. It does feel good to be taking the week after Christmas off (for the kids and I) to get the house cleaned up, organized, and ready for 2015!
