Hank's 9th birthday was a weekend long celebration! We started off Saturday morning with Hank going on a 3 mile run with Dad. Not my idea of a party, but he was feeling motivated and excited about some exercise. Dad took Hank indoor rock climbing in lieu of a birthday party with friends (thanks a lot COVID). He really enjoyed himself, although he admitted it was pretty hard and he didn't like going up to high. His favorite part was the bouldering area, where you climb up a shorter wall with no harness and can jump onto crash pads when you're done.
Sunday we had Hank's birthday party. The birthday boy opted for burgers for his dinner and pie instead of cake. Paga made his world famous burgers and Mom made him his favorite Blackberry/Raspberry Pie. He loved opening presents that included a turtle whistle, a stuffed animal turtle that can be warmed in the microwave, Mandlorian Trouble board game, Make Your Own Comic Book kit, a Lego 3-in-1 Creator Kit, and lots of cold hard cash to spend as he wishes.
His actual birthday was the day the kids went back to school, but we worked it to our advantage! He got to choose all his meals for the day (donuts from Krispy Kreme for breakfast, chicken nuggets for lunch, and a double cheeseburger from Wendy's for dinner). He also got to go easy on chores and watched the new Lego Ninjago movie we bought over the weekend. It was a good weekend to be Hank. We sure do love our kid, sweet boy and are so, so proud of all he's accomplished in these short 9 years!
