On the last full day of Tillmans being in town, Hank was playing with cousins on a playground in Hayward while he was waiting to get some soccer action shots taken. According to him, he was trying to climb up the outside of a big slide (with his cleats on), lost his footing, and had quite a big fall. He fell onto tanbark but immediately said his arm felt like it was stinging.
Upon arrival, I decided to get him taken in for x-rays just to make sure everything was okay. Since no adult saw the fall, and it was Friday afternoon of the holidays, it seemed like it would be the smart move to take him and avoid a crazy wait. The ERs were PACKED, but by some stroke of luck our pediatrician had multiple openings and was able to see him right away.
Hank was so calm about the whole thing that I was shocked to find out he did indeed have a small buckle fracture on his right forearm. He was outfitted with a splint and ordered not to take it off for the next four weeks. He hasn't really complained about pain at all and he's been so good about wearing the splint. I'm so sad that he hurt himself, but am so grateful that things turned out to be as pain-free as possible!
