Cal Day

This past weekend we checked out Cal Day at nearby Berkeley.  It was so great!  This college event has activities for alumni, parents, current students, newly admitted students, prospective students, and children.  Of course, we stuck mainly to the kid-friendly activities, which included lots of science exploration.  Of particular coolness was checking out the casts of dinosaur skeletons and the touching of many scaly animals.  A tour around campus in a trolley car was a cool way to check out the scenery and learn that Berkeley was recently rated America's #1 public university.  A quick stop at some food trucks (always a hit with our family), checking out a quick performance by the pep squad, meeting some cheerleaders, and stopping in for quick visits to the pool and baseball field for a game rounded out the visit.

Dustin and I have discussed a few times that Lyla has only been exposed to Stanford events and activities so far, so we thought showing her a different option would be a good idea.  Right before we left, though, we told Lyla we were going to stop by the campus bookstore to get some t-shirts.  Lyla then asked, "Do you think they sell any Stanford stuff there?".  We may have more work to do to show Lyla and Hank more of their college options.  We do have plenty of years to work on it though!
