The SF Food Festival: We Came, We Ate, We're Stuffed!

Yesterday we took a family trip into the city for the San Francisco Street Food Festival. The festival consists of food trucks across the region, upper-end restaurants in San Francisco, and miscellaneous food vendors from all over selling "little bite" or "big bite" portions of foods as well as a signature drink. It was pretty affordable, especially considering the higher end restaurants are super pricey and booked up months in advance, so we jumped at the chance to sample San Francisco and other west coast cuisine for $8 and under. The place got super packed with long lines quickly, but we took some advice from Dustin's co-workers and got there a little before the festival started to get an early start on hitting up the more popular vendors, did a "divide and conquer" method by splitting up and waiting in different lines, and using Lyla's stroller as a makeshift basket to store our goodies. We ate our faces off sampling grilled lamb cheek from Commonwealth, spiced hot chocolate and gourmet s'mores from Kika's Treats, pork belly buns from The Slanted Door, lamb and chicken skewers from Beijing, porchetta sandwich from Flour and Water, queso arepa from The Arepa Lady, crab deviled eggs from Nettie's Crab Shack, and jambilini balls from 15 Romolo. Lyla loved sampling the food - especially the grilled lamb check, the queso arepa, and the pork belly buns. What can we say, our girl has refined taste. We had no complaints and very full stomachs at the end. We took very few pictures because we were so busy sucking down our food. Lyla enjoyed her first trip into San Francisco using the BART - check out all those teeth she shows when she smiles these days!
