We feel like so much has happened this past summer that we needed to included a summer recap! Below are the updates captured in pictures.
We took a week and flew to Michigan for Ellen's cousin Amy's wedding. After the wedding all of the Keough clan headed down to Cincy for a little Keough reunion. These pictures were snapped of Lyla taking a bath (she LOVED getting her baths in Grammy and Pa's HUGE bathtub!). And, of course, we love a naked baby Lyla shot. :) After the week of vacation, we took off for our one-way trip to California.
Once we got out to Cali, we stayed with Dustin's parents until we found a place to rent, so we moved in with them for a little over a month. During the course of our stay, Sherie completely remodeled their backyard, complete with grass, major tile-laying project, patio furniture, and a LOT of landscaping! Dustin got right into working at Wells Fargo the Monday after we arrived, but Ellen and Lyla settled in to some great play time with Dustin's brother Bret's family for a week.
We BBQed quite a few days too. :)
We finally found a place to rent right in Fremont! We live just a neighborhood away from Dustin's parents so we are still over there quite a bit. After we moved in, we commenced with a thorough deep-cleaning. Here is a little snapshot of our cleaning.
Ellen decided that she wanted to start getting back into baking. There has been lots of recipes tested, including cookies, cakes, and pies. We see Weight Watchers in our near future. :)
Ellen had her 25th birthday. She woke up on her birthday morning to discover Lyla had slept in (her own personal gift to her mom). Dustin's sister Shannon was in town for the week, so Shannon, Sherie, Ellen, and Lyla headed out for lunch and shopping on Santana Row in San Jose. That night Dustin took her out to Luce in San Francisco for a tasting menu dinner It was EXCELLENT food - the restaurant had a Michelin star so what do you expect, though, right? We capped off the night with a movie and slept in until 8 am the next morning (yes that is sleeping in these days). We are LOVING all their dates they can take now that they have reliable babysitters that watch Lyla overnight for them. We are hitting up all the best restaurants in San Francisco and exploring all the fun things to do in the city!
Lyla gets a lot of sink baths at Maga and Paga's house as you can see. This girl is all smiles when she hops in the sink!
A heat wave blew through the East Bay, so we bought a blow-up pool for Lyla. she loved being able to crawl around in it and just play around. She's been able to show off all her new swimsuits - she's even gotten to go skinnydipping in the pool!
The biggest thing going on this summer is all the changes with Lyla! She is such a happy little girl, cruising around on furniture like it's nobody's business, eating new foods every day, getting a LOT more hair, and as of this morning, she has SIX teeth! Yes, thank goodness, she now has a smile equally balanced with teeth on BOTH sides of her mouth. ;)
