Halloween

Halloween this year was, well, weird.  Because we're still battling the pandemic, Trick or Treating was all but cancelled in the Bay Area this year.  It was a bummer, but one thing we've learned loud and clear is to embrace the changes and find new, unique ways to celebrate rather than lamenting about the usual things we don't get to do.  We skipped Grammy making costumes this year, because I couldn't bear the thought of her putting so much work into them only for us to barely wear them anywhere, so we decided on store-bought Avengers costumes instead this year.  We still looked awesome, though!  

This Halloween worked out in our favor anyway, since Lyla is still recovering from her surgery.  The kids got to wear their costumes on Zoom all day on Friday, and it was still a lot of fun to be able to see what everyone was dressed up as, even if it was on a computer screen.  We entered last year's family costume into a community costume contest and we won for best overall!  Rey went to her doggy training school and she won best costume in her class (and was very excited about the Halloween-themed chew toy she received as a result).  We did a brief trip through the church parking lot for a Trick-or-Treat socially distanced Halloween parade of treats, then home to binge on candy, watch Halloween movies, and introduced the kids to Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
