Last weekend we ventured into San Francisco for a visit to the Asian Art Museum. It was really neat! Each country in Asia had it's own section in the museum, and it was interesting to see how the countries and their cultures differed or were the same. The kids seemed to like looking at the statues of all the deities and hearing about the crazy stories and adventures the various gods got themselves into. Lyla was especially interested in all the intricate designs and colors of some of the pottery. Hank is more of a visual arts guy and loves to watch videos and live art displays the best. Jack was not loving the museum so much. He's in the funky limbo of wanting to be more mobile but not being able to get his body to do what he wants it to do. Alas, he survived.
Following the museum, we trekked over to Golden Gate Park to blow off some steam and get all the energy out before we made our way back home. We were so bummed to find that the carousel wasn't working, but the kids made great use of the rest of the park and it's playground structures, including the famous concrete slide. It's fun to finally be getting back out there with the kids and exploring all the Bay Area has to offer. I think the visits to places will get longer and we'll be able to do more stuff as Jack continues to grow. Something we are all looking forward to!
