Saturday morning I headed off to the spa with a dear friend to enjoy our Mother's Day gifts from our families - facials. Let's just say, the treatment was much-needed for me and much-appreciated. After the spa, we took our time getting back home, shopping a little and helping ourselves to a great lunch. After lunch time, our family headed over to Dustin's Uncle Mike and Aunt Kathy's for a Tillman BBQ. Lyla and Hank loved checking out Kathy's turtles in her backyard and everyone loved all the delicious food.
Sunday was a nice day of rest for everyone, complete with a trip to church, lots of napping, and some fun together in the backyard playing together.
Monday morning we headed up to the Oakland Zoo for some animal-spotting. Lyla really wanted to see the flamingos and check out the giraffes' black tongues (I'm not sure she totally believed me when I told her their tongues were all black!). Hank was that much more into the animals this time, and particularly loved the petting zoo with the sheep and goats, as well as peeking on the playful otters. After the zoo, we had some In-N-Out for lunch (Hank's first time!). After a nap to regroup for the boys and crazy errand-running for the girls, we headed over to another's friend's home for yet another delicious cookout with some of our friends. The best weekends for me seem to involve lots of eating and sleeping, so this long weekend was up there with the best of them. We need more long weekends to enjoy ASAP!
