Saturday afternoon we got to Fresno, and it was HOT. 110 degrees hot. I thought I was going to die on the spot! AGH! We spent most of the afternoon hanging out and chatting with the family. We took a quick detour to the hotel to go for a quick swim and introduce Hank to the pool. Poor Max got sicker than a dog shortly after we got there and was out of commission pretty much the whole time we were there. I love watching Lyla interact with her cousins because she has so much fun following them around and trying to act older than she is. She especially loves Sadie, because they can have "girl time" together. It's really sweet to see the kids interact with Hank too, because he gets so happy when they talk to him!
Saturday night we headed back to the hotel. Let me just say, Saturday night was a ROUGH one. Dustin was sweet and was on Hank duty while I slept with Lyla. Hank didn't like the hotel room and cried about every 45 minutes from 2:45am till 6am. Sometimes he went down with just a pacifier stuck back in his mouth, but the 2:45am wakeup was brutal, and it took 45 minutes and a bottle to get him calmed back to sleep. You can imagine with Hank not sleeping, NO ONE slept. Poor Lyla went to bed an hour past her bedtime, was up for about an hour in the middle of the night (although she was so sweet and tried to just keep her eyes closed and lay relatively still), and woke up an hour earlier than usual. She was exhausted before we even started the day!
Sunday morning we headed to church for Beau's baby blessing. He was such a good baby, and didn't cry! He's so sweet and precious! Aaron did a great job with the blessing, and it was so great to see so many of our side of the family and Kristen's side of the family get to participate in the blessing. Unfortunately, our family lasted through halfway through the second hour of church and it was clear naps were desperately needed. So, we headed out earlier than anticipated to get the kids naps on the way home and get back home at a decent hour.
I was sad our trip was so short BUT such is life with a small baby. I'm excited to see some of the family this weekend, plus Uncle Aaron in a few weeks!
