The Lee family had a connection to a cabin up in Truckee (just north of Tahoe) for President's Day Weekend so they invited us along for the trip! The ride up took double what it should have (stopped traffic for 90 minutes!), but once we got there the kids were so excited. The cabin had a nice backyard full of fresh snow, and the kids filled their time spending HOURS out there. Building snowmen, sledding, snowball fights, creating an igloo, and making snow angels were all part of the kids fun. The kids apparently had a much higher freezing tolerance than the adults and Dad was a champ being out there for the majority of the time while Mom slept and took it easy. There was a hot tub everyone could thaw off in following all that snow fun, and let's not forget the Valentine's meal complete with chocolate fondue! We love being able to spend time with our social bubble people, and it was nice to sneak in a little trip away from home when travel has been a scarcely seen thing this past year. On the way home we were ordered to put on snow chains, and Dad did a great job navigating that - and it was his first time having to put them on a vehicle! We made it through Donner Pass and the rest of the trip went okay, except for lots and lots of rain. Growing up in the snow, Mom isn't ever thrilled about going back in it but can appreciate why the rest of her Cali family can't get enough!
