Mom: YW Camp 4th Level Overnight Hike

This year Mom was asked to plan and lead the 4th level girls of Young Women's Camp on an overnight hike.  It was pretty nervewracking since Mom has never been backpacking or camped out in a tent before!  She took the girls down to Big Basin Redwoods State Park.  She made it!  There were many more rats and mice than they anticipated, and it was positively crawling with poison oak (not to mention Mom's sleeping pad slipping out of her bag and down into a ravine only to have the Stake President trek down to get it for her!), but all in all it was pretty nice.  We finished up the expedition with some ocean time at Waddell Beach and ice cream at Marianne's Ice Cream in Santa Cruz.  I'm not sure she'll be signing up to do anymore big trips like this again, but if she does she can now say she has experience!
