Last fall Lyla submitted a book to Fremont Unified School District's Young Authors' Contest. Her book was selected as the official submission for Ardenwood Elementary's TK level, and then she won at the district level as well! We went to a special ceremony to honor her, and we couldn't have been more proud. She was really excited and was appreciative of all the support she got from her teacher, her assistant principal, and her family.
Her book was titled "Best Wizard Friends Forever", and it was all about two wizards, Ben and David. Ben was an mean wizard who had no friends and David was a nice wizard who had many friends. Ben got sick and no one was there to take care of him. David said he would help him if Ben decided to be nice. Ben agreed, and David took care of Ben until he was well again. After he was healthy, Ben learned to be nice and made lots of friends. His best friend, of course, was David.
