We finally got back and settled in California late last week after our extended stay in Ohio. Dustin took the entire week off for vacation, so after the house got cleaned and restocked with groceries, we decided to plan a fun day for our family on Saturday. We picked the San Francisco Zoo since we hadn't been there before, and we're so glad we did! Lyla LOVED the zoo this time. She said "Hi!" enthusiastically to every animal she saw and loved watching them. It was so fun to see her really start to enjoy the zoo and the animals - previously she was just content to people watch other people watching the animals, but this time it seemed to click for her. She loved the petting zoo section and really enjoyed the "Barnyard Stampede" where they let all the goat and sheep loose and have the kids feed them breakfast. She was beside herself with glee with the sheep and goats knocking in to her looking for food. We tired out of the zoo before Lyla did - she was so well-behaved!
After Lyla fell alseep in the car, Dustin and I got a taste of Connecticut with a quick visit to Sam's Chowder House for a few hot lobster rolls. They were just as delicious as we remembered! Of course, when Lyla woke up from her nap she wanted to sample our sandwiches and (surprise, surprise), decided she loved lobster and wanted all the lobster meat she could get her hands on!
It was a really enjoyable day to spend together as a family, and a good start to our California summer weekend adventures together!
