Last weekend we all went to Utah for our niece Bailey's baptism. It was great to have time together with family and to finally be able to see Dustins' brothers' new houses! Unfortunately, Lyla was sicker than a dog most of the trip with a nasty cough, a fever, a sore throat, and a bad case of eczema all over her face. She was such a trooper and tried to make the most of the weekend seeing her cousins. This weekend was a double whammy with Easter also falling on the Sunday we were in Utah. There were lots of things done by the kids (cookie making, Easter egg hunts, and egg decorating). We decided that with all the potential craziness, we were going to postpone our own family Easter festivities until next weekend so we could really walk Lyla through what the holiday is and take the time start some new traditions together.
Lyla not feeling well led to a lot of her calling out "mom" and wanting Ellen to hold her. Oddly, when Hank came out on Friday she really wanted "Paga" to hold her just about as much!
The Easter Egg Hunt with all the cousins was great! Given Lyla didn't feel great and there were so many other kids, she was a little resistant to finding eggs and opening them up for treats. It occurred to me later that she probably had no idea what was in some of the candy wrapper since she hasn't had any of it before - if only she knew!
The kids enjoyed all their loot and were kind enough to switch Lyla her candy-filled eggs with the eggs that I had filled with Goldfish for her.
Lyla's Easter dress and shoes came from her Grammy. She has been picking them up and handing the dress and shoes to us for weeks to put on her so she was happy to finally be able to wear her clothes. Since she didn't feel well, the pictures weren't what we were hoping for, but we can always try again next weekend. :)
There were many dance parties this weekend with the cousins, and Lyla decided to bust out some new moves. She loved dancing with babies and occasionally another family member. She's such a dancing queen!
It's always fun to explore another person's house and see what fun things they have. At Brandon and Liz's house there was a piano, and of course, Lyla wanted to play the piano just like her cousins. The girl cousins are always so sweet to be patient with Lyla and let her have free reign of their house and make sure she doesn't get hurt. A great weekend overall, and we're excited to all meet up in Montana in July for Shannon and Dylan's wedding celebration!
