Shots In The Leg, And You're To Blame, Mom, You Give Doctor's A Bad Name

Well, we survived. Last Monday was Lyla's seven week check up and first round of shots at the doctor. Ellen HATES the doctor, so needless to say she wasn't in the best shape thinking about her poor helpless baby getting needles stuck in her. We are happy to say Ellen did NOT cry when Lyla got her shots (although she came close), and Lyla was a big girl and didn't cry too much with either of her shots. She actually liked drinking down the Rotateq vaccine, so we think she may have thought it was a treat for the pain!

Also, we should report that Lyla is getting great at gaining weight (her favorite past time right now must be eating), and she has grown to be 11 lbs. 7.5 oz. and 22.5 in. long. Her weight shot up from the 50th percentile to the 90th in just 5 weeks!

Below is a picture of her poor pathetic legs with the Snoopy band aids (it makes Ellen's heart break just looking at this) and a picture of what Ellen ended up doing with Lyla for the day of and after the shot - major pampering! Ellen cuddled with Lyla and consoled her and her beat up legs. At least we know Ellen will be empathetic of her kids and their doctor's visits, but let's hope they take after Dustin and be agnostic about getting shots and going to the doctor! Until next time, Ellen says she will be toughening up so that her kids don't develop the same fear of needles that she sadly has.

Also worth noting these days is the fact that Dustin is both quite the photographer AND quite the stylist for his daughter. Ellen came upstairs from working out on Saturday and saw Dustin doing another baby photo shoot with Lyla. We think this picture depicts her 'California Dreaming', looking forward to next weekend with Dustin's family in California for Thanksgiving!
